Commissioned by eibeplay ltd, we manufactured and
installed this 6m Rope Bridge, made from Fibre Core Wire Reinforced
Rope, 6m long with 100mm mesh floor and 300mm mesh sides, held
together with stainless steel clips with laminate timber hand rails
and support posts with zinc coated sleeve nuts to be used on all
fittings. The bridge was expertly handmade, taking our skilled
craftsman approximately 5 days to complete.
"Back in April 2009 pupils from Year 6 at Goosnargh Oliversons Primary
School presented reports about Goosnargh Play Area (located behind
Goosnargh Village Hall) to councillors and Preston City Council
officers at the Rural Area Forum. The children feel the play area is
in need of improvement, not only the equipment itself but the land and
the paths leading to it. In June 2009 a major piece of equipment on
the play area, a wooden fort, was burned down, further diminishing the
facility.
In response to these events Preston City Council supported a 'Friends
of the Green' group made up of local residents. They set about
developing local solutions to these issues. In July 2009 over 50 local
residents attended the first meeting to agree the aims, objectives and
a name for the group. As a result the 'Friends of Whittingham and
Goosnargh Green' formed and they held their first annual general
meeting on 2 September 2009. This group has been working with Preston
City Council, councillors, children and young people, local residents,
Lancashire Constabulary, local community organisations and Lancashire
County Council to come up with the following proposal: create a new
playground area, expanding the old play facility into part of the
village green.
The improvements will include the installation of a new large timber
multi play unit with towers and slide, to be located within the
existing play area, positioned near the Village Hall, plus a snake
swing and new timber framed cradle swings. One of the main criteria
for Playbuilder is that equipment provided be suitable for adventurous
play mainly aimed at 8-13 year olds, therefore the first phase of
improvements are focused on this age range. New cradle swings will be
installed as part of this phase whilst the existing flat seat swings,
small climbing frame and tyre swing are planned to remain for the time
being, and subject to additional funding being sourced for further
improvements."
